i went to fanexpo

i went to fanexpo last friday, and it was pretty cool!

if you dont know what fanexpo is, its a little convention (like comic con) for people to go to to see whats going on in stuff like comics, games, movies, and a bunch of other junk.

a lot of people dress up and cosplay for fanexpo, so i decided to be no exception, but since i decided quite late on going, i decided to do something a little simpler, and went goth! it looked like this:

i managed to get the clothes after i stole got them from a friend, cameron! (hi cameron! i think you read these too! thank you!!)

we met down at the train station pretty early, where he did my makeup, and then we headed to the convention centre together. we walked all through artist alley where i got a few stickers, a keychain, and a print. after a few hours, i had to bid farewell to cameron as he had something else planned in the day. (thank you for coming with me!!!!)

after that, i met up with my friend ben and we talked a bit, this guy is a full head taller than me, i had to crane my neck up. giraffe boy.

i said bye to ben and went off back to artist alley, going down all the aisles again and picking up a few things that i had missed or had been eyeing… which made me end up spending around $260…

after having my bag and my hands full, i went and looked around the rest of the convention, to which i was.. not too impressed with. there were a ton of booths selling things, figures, props, cards, comics, which i looked at, but didnt end up grabbing too much. i was a little surprised with the lack of playable games, which to me i would have thought would be more of.. they had a corner with marvel rivals and another corner with what i believed to be a counter-strike game? they also had a whole room dedicated to ‘retro arcades’ which, sure, there were SOME there, but really, there was like 10 machines for the thousands of people in attendance. (plus they didnt have guitar hero, so why bother?) after a bit, i found the clip studio paint booth, where i fucked around a little and drew garfield and a little worm, and after the booth attendant saw it, didnt give me a flyer for the free 3 months… hmm..

after that, i went upstairs, they had a few workshops and presentations, none of which really caught my eye, and i began to look for an exit, which took embarassingly long, and i had to ask a volunteer how to leave the venue. the train ride back home was nice and quiet, and i had a very nice haul of the things i ended up getting from artist alley.

i ended off with 9 art prints, 4 acrylic keychains, 4 photo cards, 3 stickers, and a sticker sheet. i’d say its worth going just for artist alley alone.

though, unfortunately, exerting yourself in a hot convention center for hours without eating or drinking isnt the best thing to do, and i ended up getting home and vomiting 4 times over the course of 24 hours… not good.

otherwise, very fun event! i definitely will go next year, and i will put thought into a cosplay!
